Panthers Extend Unbeaten Streak to Three

Old Westbury, New York | October 11, 2023 |  The SUNY Old Westbury Panther men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to three with a 1-0 victory over Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on Wednesday.

The win followed a win over SUNY Maritime and a tie with Purchase College, leaving the Panthers' record at 4-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference. Against the Bears, SUNY Old Westbury benefited from the only goal of the game, a score in the 26th minute by first-year forward Roobens Celine, his third of the season and third in the past four games.

To make the goal hold up, the Panthers put on a strong defensive effort throughout. In the second half, midfielder Randy Parada and a back four of Tiago Tirado, Daniel Moran, Ashel Santos, Tyler Tesoriere led a cohesive defensive effort against lengthy stretches of possession by St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn.

Goalkeeper Andy Chacho notched the second clean sheet of his collegiate career, making seven saves.
