MECHANICSBURG, PA – The SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball team fell to the Messiah University Falcons last night by a score of 87-43.
The game took place on Jordan Court in the Hitchcock Arena as a part of Messiah's ''Tip-off Tournament".
Despite the team's shooting woes and struggles to put up points in the first half, there were still some student-athletes with strong showings on the night. First off,
Jamari Williams continued to fill the stats column. Williams finished the night with eight points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals.
Another Panther who had a great night statistically was
Amadi Lee-Kane. He led the team in scoring and recorded 16 points, while also grabbing six rebounds.
The team struggled again to shoot the ball well, but specifically, the three-point ball. The Panthers ended the night with a sub 20 percent three point shot average.
The Falcons out played the Panthers in many areas but specifically, they capitalized on the glass as well as second chance points. The Falcons recorded 12 second chance points and 50 rebounds through the night.
Messiah's leading performer was Cole Fisher. He recorded a total of 14 points, six rebounds, and a steal. Messiah also showed their physicality down low as they scored 40 points from inside the paint compared to Old Westbury's 20.
The Panthers will regroup as the team will see an extended break through the week of thanksgiving with ten straight days without a game. The team will allow the group to practice and prepare for their next matchup against Western Connecticut State which will take place in the Clark Center Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 28 and is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
