Women's Lacrosse Defeats Centenary in Overtime

The Old Westbury women's lacrosse team defeated Centenary University by a score of 3-2 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

  • Both teams saw opportunities through the first quarter, but Centenary scored the first goal of the game with 5:26 remaining.
  • Old Westbury had six free position attempts in the first half, but could not capitalize. Both teams went scoreless in the second quarter.
  • Nicole Abalco scored the tying goal for Old Westbury five minutes into the third quarter.
  • Jessica Pedroza scored a man-down free position shot with 6:35 remaining in the game to put Old Westbury up 2-1. With two minutes left, Centenary scored to force the game into overtime.
  • Old Westbury and Centenary took one shot each through the first six minutes of overtime. The Panthers earned a free position attempt with 13 seconds left in the overtime period. Nicole Abalco scored on the free position shot for the win.
  • Old Westbury totaled 14 shots on goal, and took 11 free position shots compared to Centenary's seven.
