The Old Westbury softball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon. Old Westbury moves to 7-11 overall, and 5-3 in conference play.
Game One: Old Westbury 0, Mount Saint Mary 8
How it Happened
After a quick first two innings on both sides, Mount Saint Mary got on the scoreboard first in the third inning. A lead off single and a sacrifice bunt put a runner in scoring position for the Knights. A throwing error allowed the next batter to reach second and for the run to score. A single up the middle then scored the second run of the inning. Mount Saint Mary scored two more runs in the fourth inning, three runs in the fifth, and one run in the seventh. Of the eight runs scored for the Knights, only four were earned runs.
Alaina Reilly broke the no-hitter for Mount Saint Mary with a line drive double to center field in the fourth inning.

Game Two: Old Westbury 5, Mount Saint Mary 2
How it Happened
Old Westbury scored first with one run in the first inning. Shannon Myles walked and Alaina Reilly moved her to second base with a sacrifice bunt. Hillary Bennett then singled to right field to score Reilly.
Mount Saint Mary scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead, before Old Westbury responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to go ahead 3-2. Gianna Ventiere led off the inning with a walk and stole second. Myles singled through the left side to score Ventiere. Heather Dillon entered the game to pinch-run for Myles, and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Reilly. Bennett grounded out to shortstop to score Dillon for her second RBI of the game.
The Panthers scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Reilly led off the inning with a double to center field; Tylyn LeSane came in to pinch-run for Reilly. Bennett hit a bunt singled to move LeSane to third base. Angelina Fernandez hit into a fielder's choice to second base that allowed a run to score, and Jenna Gaspa grounded out to first base to score Bennett.
