The Old Westbury baseball team earned a pair of wins in a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Farmingdale on Tuesday afternoon. Old Westbury improves to 16-16 overall, and 9-7 in conference play.
Game One: Old Westbury 9, Farmingdale 6
How it Happened
Farmingdale scored a run in each of the first two innings to take the early lead, but Old Westbury tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Jamal Ritter led off the inning with a single, and two consecutive errors allowed Ritter to score. Jacob Taormina, who reached on an error, later scored on a wild pitch.
Farmingdale took the lead 6-2 with four runs in the fourth inning on four hits, including a three-run home run. Old Westbury cut the lead in half with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning. Dominic Felicetti and Troy Emmanuel hit back-to-back singles, and Ritter reached on an error to score a run. Jacob Taormina then singled to score Emmanuel.
The Panthers trailed by two runs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Felicetti led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Ritter singled to score Felicetti, Taormina singled to right field, and John Dell'Olio was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Oscar Fajardo hit a sacrifice fly to right field to tie the game. Nick Papageorge then hit a three-run home run to give Old Westbury the lead.
Justin Aviles allowed six runs on ten hits through six innings pitched. Kyle Gaertner entered the game in the seventh inning to earn the save.

Game Two: Old Westbury 5, Farmingdale 4
How it Happened
Old Westbury got on the scoreboard first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Jamal Ritter led off with a triple to right center field, and Jacob Taormina followed with a sacrifice fly to score the run.
Both teams went scoreless until Farmingdale tied the game with a run in the top of the fifth inning as the result of two doubles. In the top of the eighth inning, Farmingdale took the lead 4-1 off two singles, a walk, and a triple.
Old Westbury responded with four runnings in the bottom of the eighth inning. John Dell'Olio led off the inning with a double to right center and Oscar Fajardo walked. Nick Papageorge hit his second three-run home run of the day to tie the game 4-4. Jamie Barrios reached on a single, and Charlie Eisele doubled to score the go-ahead run.
Frank Whitenack allowed three runs on six hits through 7.1 innings pitched; he pitched six scoreless innings. Joseph Bekios entered in the eighth inning to earn the win. Kyle Gaertner closed out the game in the top of the ninth for the save.
