The Old Westbury softball team finished the 2023 season after a 2-0 loss to Mount Saint Mary in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship. The Panthers finished 12-17 overall, and 10-8 in the Skyline Conference regular season. This year marked the most conference wins for the Old Westbury softball team since the 2011 season (11-3).

How it Happened
In the bottom of the first inning, Mount Saint Mary threatened with a runner on third after two singles, but Old Westbury pitcher Julia Pastrana was able to retire the next three batters to end the inning.
In the top of the fourth inning, Alaina Reilly and Madison Danin walked to put two runners on for the Panthers. Shannon Myles moved both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, but Old Westbury was unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
Mount Saint Mary scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. A lead off single and a sacrifice bunt put a runner in scoring position. A RBI double scored the first run of the inning, and a passed ball allowed the runner to move to third base for the next batter to hit a sacrifice fly for the second run.
Old Westbury loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning when Hillary Bennett walked, Angelina Fernandez singled to right field, and Natalie Intrieri was hit by a pitch, but the Panthers were unable to score.St. Joseph's opened the game with two runs in each of the first two innings to take the early 4-0 lead. Old Westbury got one run back in the bottom of the second inning. Hillary Bennett walked, Jenna Gaspa singled, and Angelina Fernandez hit a sacrifice fly to score the run.
