Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Downed by St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team was defeated by the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday. The final score was 3-1.
 
The Panthers now move to 5-8 overall on the season with a conference record of 3-4.
 
Old Westbury could not find their groove offensively as the team did not record a single shot in the first half.
 
For the Golden Eagles, their offense got off nine shots. Their first goal came by way of Erica Urbancik just under 30 minutes into the game.
 
The Golden Eagles would go into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
 
In the second half, it was more of the same. The Golden Eagles scored twice, first thanks to Trista Buck who was assisted by Sophia Cagnetto.
 
The second SJLI goal came from Gianna Gambino who was assisted by both Emily Farrington and Bella Sweet with just about 15 minutes to play.
 
Old Westbury prevented the shutout as Eleni Petri scored on the Panthers' lone shot attempt with just about two minutes remaining in the game.
 
The Golden Eagles would end on top and defeat the Panthers by a final score of 3-1.
 
Eleni Petri finished with the lone goal and shot for the Panthers. In goal, Kristen Gallagher recorded eight saves as she faced a total of 26 shots.
 
Next up, the Panthers will hit the road for three straight road matches. Next, Old Westbury will face off against Manhattanville University on Saturday, October 19 at 3:00 PM. Following that, the team will play Farmingdale and Purchase on October 23 and October 26, respectively.
