Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Defeated by St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn on Wednesday

 BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team was defeated by the Bears of St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on Wednesday night. The final score was 65-37 in favor of the Bears. 
 
The Panthers now fall to 0-7 overall on the year and hold a conference record of 0-4. 
 
Throughout the game, Old Westbury committed a total of 27 turnovers, leading to 17 points off turnovers for the Bears. The Panthers allowed 32 points in the paint and 15 fast break buckets. 
 
As a team, Old Westbury shot the ball just 23 percent from the floor, 14 percent from three-point range and 40 percent from the free-throw line. 
 
Jailah Pineda led the team in scoring as she finished with 11 points, one rebound, five assists and two steals. Maya Kama recorded eight points, four rebounds, one block and two steals. 
 
Malaura Olivier impressed as she recorded a season high 22 rebounds as well as six points. Sakhmet Lewis appeared in her first game of the season and had five points, one assist and three rebounds. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will regroup and prepare to take on the Knights of Mount Saint Mary on the road on Saturday, December 7. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 1 PM.
