UNION, N.J. – The SUNY Old Westbury baseball team traveled to Union, N.J. once again for a game against the Cougars of Kean University. The final score at the end of nine innings was 25-2.

The Panthers got things going with two hits in the first inning thanks to Jacob Taormina and Jaime Barrios. Despite Rob Manetta reaching on a fielder's choice, the Panthers left their two runners on the bases as Taormina was out at third for the final out of the inning.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Cougars got things going offensively, scoring five runs on three hits. The Panthers did not help the cause as Manetta recorded an error on an errant throw to third base.

Mike Petrucelly blasted a homerun to open the second inning in what would be the Panthers' first homerun of the season.

The Cougars really opened things up in the bottom of the third inning. The Panthers gave up eight runs on six hits to the Cougars, allowing their lead to grow to 13 points. The Panthers also committed two more errors.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Kean answered with even more runs of their own. The Cougars would score five runs on five hits in the frame. The score was now 25-2.

Throughout the remainder of the game, the Panthers brought out several different arms to share the pitching duties. OW managed to hold the Cougars from scoring any more runs. The game came to a close with the Cougars victorious and a final score of 25-2.

Louis Pizzileo was charged with the loss for the Panthers after allowing five runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning. Pizzileo managed to strike out two batters and walked one. Rob Manetta saw more time on the mound in this one after moving from catcher. Manetta finished with the most OW strikeouts with three. He allowed no runs and only two hits.
