Men's Volleyball Taken Down by Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday Night

BRONX, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's volleyball team was defeated by the Dolphins of the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday night, 3-0.

The Dolphins had control for nearly the entire match despite the Panthers putting up a strong fight in the opening set.

The Panthers were competitive throughout the first set. When the score reached 20-22 in favor of the Dolphins, the Panthers cracked and committed some costly errors.  The Dolphins were able to hold on and walk away with the first set victory, 25-21.

In the second set, the Panthers allowed the Dolphins to go on several small runs. Many of the Dolphins' points came from errors on behalf of the Panthers. Despite the mistakes, the Panthers amassed three kills as a team in the second set. The University of Mount Saint Vincent took the second set by a comfortable margin and a final score of 25-11.

In what would be the final set of the day, the Panthers compiled six kills as a team. It would not be enough to overcome UMSV's 13 kills. The Dolphins were able to take the third set easily, 25-18 and win the match 3-0.

Anthony Moyett finished the match with three kills, one set assist and six kills. James Seraphin and Kosta Anagnostou each finished with three kills. Val Holmes continued to be a presence at the net, notching two blocks. Kyle Singh-Gajadar recorded eight assists on the night.

Next up, the Panthers will return home for the first time in nearly nine days to host a tri-match on Saturday, March 16. The tri-match will feature St. Joseph's University-Long Island and Purchase College. The first match will feature St. Joseph's-Long Island and the Panthers beginning at 10 AM in the Clark Center Gymnasium.
