Women’s Soccer Ties Five Towns on Sunday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team tied the Sound of Five Towns College on Sunday afternoon. The final score was 1-1.

The Panthers had control of this one throughout the majority of the game as they brought the intensity on both sides of the ball.

Old Westbury found their stride early as they managed to possess the ball in their offensive side of the field for a bulk of the first half. The Panthers would find the back of the net just under 24 minutes in to the game. The Panther's goal came courtesy of Jaylyn Sanchez.

The Panthers defense held strong throughout he remainder of the half and they led the Sound, 1-0 at halftime.

Coming out of the break, it was a lot of the same as the Old Westbury defense helped keep Five Towns out of reach of a shot. Throughout the entire game, the Sound finished with only three shots with two being on target.

With just about 51 seconds to play, the Sound would break through and find open space. The Sound's Chelsea Martinez scored the equalizing goal.
