Women’s Soccer Taken Down by USMMA on Saturday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team was taken down by the Mariners of the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday. The final score was 4-1 in favor of the Mariners. 
 
Old Westbury drops to 6-5 overall on the season and 3-4 in conference play. 
 
The Panthers were able to hold off the Mariners for some time with strong defense. That said, USMMA would score their first goal of the day just under 29 minutes into play. 
 
The Mariners went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. 
 
In the second half, USMMA continued to pile on the goals as they would find the back of the net three more times. 
 
In the end, Old Westbury was able to score thanks to a goal from Stefany Donnelly who was assisted by Taryn Hilke to make it a 4-1 game. 
 
The Mariners held on to defeat the Panthers, 4-1. 
 
Stefany Donnelly led the team as she finished with a goal. Taryn Hilke recorded an assist as well as a shot. In goal, Kristen Gallagher recorded 14 saves after facing 19 shots on-goal. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will continue conference play on the road on Saturday, October 18 against Mount Saint Vincent. That game is scheduled for 3 PM.
