Women’s Volleyball Defeats York on Friday Night

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball team defeated the Cardinals of York College on Friday night, 3-1. 
 
Old Westbury improves to 3-6 overall on the season and holds a conference record of 1-1. 
 
The Panthers fell in the opening set, 25-19. 
 
The next three sets, the Panthers would rally back to take three big straight sets. The Panthers would hold on to take down the Cardinals, 3-1. 
 
Stephanie Maser led the team with 19 kills, two aces, and 14 digs. Nicole Zugnoni finished the night with 13 kills, and an ace. Stephanie Velez recorded four aces and eight kills. Katia Gomez played well as she recorded 36 assists and 10 digs. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will return to conference play. The Panthers will hit hit the road for a match against the Knights of Mount Saint Mary. That match will take place on Wednesday, October 8 at 6 PM in Newburgh.
