Women’s Lacrosse Picks Up Non-Conference Victory Over Albertus Magnus on Thursday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY OId Westbury women's lacrosse team was victorious over the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College on Thursday afternoon. The Panthers won the battle, 10-9. 
 
Old Westbury now improves to 2-3 on the campaign and holds a conference record of 1-1. 
 
The Panthers found themselves down early as the Falcons scored three unanswered goals in the opening quarter. 
 
Old Westbury's first goal came with 13:54 on the clock in the second quarter thanks to Katherine Campbell. With the score 3-1, Albertus Magnus responded with a goal of their own.
 
The Panthers then went on a scoring spree thanks to three unassisted goals from Katia Maisonneuve who tied the game at 4-4. 
 
The Falcons responded with a goal of their own which gave them a 5-4 lead at halftime. 
 
Maisonneuve scored once again in the third quarter to make it a tie game once again. The two sides went back-and-forth for several minutes with Amanda Chasan and Campbell scoring for Old Westbury. 
 
To start the fourth quarter, the score was 7-7.
 
Campbell scored the first goal of the quarter and gave the Panthers a lead to play with.  The Falcons then answered with two more goals to take a one goal lead. 
 
Campbell came up huge for the Panthers in the final 90 seconds as she scored the game tying and game winning goals. The Panthers would hold on and defeat the Falcons, 10-9. 
 
Katherine Campbell dominated with five goals and three ground balls. Katia Maisonneuve also impressed as she finished with four goals, nine ground balls and two draw controls. Amanda Chasan recorded a goal, an assist, and two ground balls. Adelia Slavinskaya and Briana Sayoc also recorded assists. 
 
In goal, Jara Gonzalez faced 20 total shots on net and finished with 11 saves. She also recorded five ground balls. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will remain at home and play host to USMMA. That game will take place on Saturday, April 5 at 11 AM.
