Men’s Soccer Rallies Late but Falls to Mount Saint Mary on Saturday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury men 's soccer team was defeated by the Knights of Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, 2-1. 
 
Old Westbury now sits at 1-1 on the year and holds a conference record of 1-1. 
 
The Panthers found themselves trailing early as Mount Saint Mary found the back of the net just over 12 minutes into the match.
 
The Knights would score again with just over four minutes to play in the first half. 
 
MSMC held a 2-0 lead at halftime. 
 
In the second half, the Panthers saw several more opportunities.
 
With just one minute to play, the Panthers would score thanks to Henrik Ropstad who was assisted by Johan Gran. Despite the late push, the Panthers would be unable to tie the game. 
 
The Knights held on to take down the Panthers, 2-1. 
 
For Old Westbury, Henrik Ropstad led the way as he finished with one goal with two shots on-target. Isaiah Cardenas and Jeffery Baires each also took a shot on-goal. Johan Gran recorded another assist. 
 
In goal, James Ackermann recorded nine saves after facing 11 shots on-goal. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will continue Skyline Conference play as they hit the road to take on the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's-Long Island. The Golden Eagles and Panthers will face off on Saturday, September 27 at 3 PM.
