DeGennaro Named Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Men’s Soccer

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Skyline Conference has announced their weekly award winners from Sept. 1- Sept. 7. Paul DeGennaro has been named this week's Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer.
 
For the Panthers, the team had a strong week. Despite falling to Albertus Magnus on Tuesday, Old Westbury took down the Maccabees of Yeshiva University on Thursday, 4-2. The Panthers now sit at 2-1 overall on the season with a 1-0 record in conference play.

DeGennaro had a strong week with 14 total saves and only four goals allowed this week. He finished with seven saves against Albertus Magnus. DeGennaro allowed just two goals and faced 19 shots. 
 
Against YU, DeGennaro finished with seven saves and allowed two goals. He would face 13 goals. 

DeGennaro currently ranks third overall in the Skyline Conference in saved with 21 in three matches. He also ranks third in saves per game. 

Next up, the Panthers will return to action on the road on Wednesday, September 10 against Lehman College. That game is set to begin at 5 PM.
