The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team returned to the court for the first time in 2026 with a 65-56 victory over the Maccabees of Yeshiva from Baruch College. The victory marks the Panthers' first Skyline Conference win of the season and improves the record to 2-8 (1-7 Skyline).
Old Westbury's afternoon was highlighted by a standout debut from
Endya Greene, who netted 27 points, shooting 11-of-25 (44%) from the field, to go with nine rebounds, eight steals, four assists, and one block.
Sonasia Walker followed with 14 points and four steals. Korria Plail led in her Old Westbury debut with 12 rebounds, adding four assists, two blocks, a steal, and seven points.
Sakhmet Lewis followed with 10 boards and a team-leading eight assists to go with two steals and six points.
Tied at 10 midway through the opening quarter, Yeshiva would score the next five points before ultimately ending the frame ahead, 17-12. The Maccabees would lead by as many as seven, 29-22, before Old Westbury began to close the gap. Back-to-back jump shots from Lewis and Plair would make it a one possession game and the Panthers were able to come within two, 32-30 following a pair of foul shots from Greene to end the half.
The score would be tied three times in the third frame before eight points from Greene gave the Panthers a four point advantage, 47-43. Yeshiva went to the foul line in the final minute to make it a one possession contest headed into the final 10 minutes. Old Westbury would score the first eight points of the fourth quarter, including four from Greene and three from
Kayla Chappelle to make it 55-45. Yeshiva would come within seven, but the Panthers strong start to the frame was the difference and sealed the win to open the calendar year.
Old Westbury returns to action on Tuesday, January 13 at Manhattanville at 6:00 pm from Purchase, New York.
