OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball team earned a commanding three-set victory over York College (N.Y.) on Thursday evening, sweeping the Cardinals, 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-23), at the Clark Athletic Center.
Old Westbury (4-3, 0-1 Skyline) controlled the opening two sets from start to finish, taking the first frame, 25-9, before posting a 25-12 victory in the second. The Panthers closed out the match with a 25-23 third-set victory despite York making a late push.
Summer Brown led the Panthers offensively with eight kills on 16 attacks without committing an error, finishing with a .500 hitting percentage. She also recorded seven service aces and finished with a team-high 15.0 points.
Kasey Coppola added seven kills on 12 attacks for a .417 hitting percentage, while Nicole Zugnoni contributed two kills and a team-high seven service aces to finish with 9.5 points.
Julia Brandes and Katia Gomez each recorded nine assists, while Ava Cavanaugh registered a team-high eight digs. The Panthers finished the match with 26 kills, 22 assists and 22 service aces while hitting .281 as a team.
The Panthers next game is Wednesday October 7th where they are on the road and take on Farmingdale State College at 6PM
