OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury softball team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Sarah Lawrence College in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Panther Park. The Panthers earned back-to-back victories, taking both games by identical 8-0 scores.
With the sweep, Old Westbury continued to build momentum in conference play with a complete effort in all phases.
GAME 1 OLD WESTBURY: 8 SARAH LAWRENCE: 0
After a scoreless first inning, Old Westbury broke through with a four-run second inning to take control of the game. The Panthers added three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory.
Olivia DeRose earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete-game one-hit shutout.
Madison Muehling led the offense with an inside-the-park home run and two RBIs. Jessica Feerick added an RBI double, while Aliya Feerick, Camila Uribe, and Amanda Varela each contributed RBIs.
GAME 2 OLD WESTBURY: 8 SARAH LAWRENCE: 0
The Panthers carried their momentum into game two, scoring five runs in the first inning to set the tone early. Old Westbury added two runs in the second and one in the third to complete the sweep.
Hailey Ragozine was dominant in the circle, recording a complete-game one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts.
Olivia Toto paced the offense with a multi-hit performance, while Jessica Feerick and Phylicia Cangemi each recorded RBIs in the win.
