KINGS POINT, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell to Merchant Marine, 3-0, Friday night at Liebertz Gym.
Old Westbury came out competing in the opening set but was unable to keep pace with Merchant Marine, which took the first frame, 25-11.The Mariners carried that momentum into the second set and took the set.
The Panthers would battle back in the third set , but the Mariners came up swinging and closed out the match, 3-0
Paige Herbert led the Panthers with five kills and five digs, while
Amaya McFadden and
Summer Brown each recorded four kills.
Nicole Zugnoni added four kills and two service aces, while
Kasey Coppola posted three kills on a .600 hitting percentage.
Julia Brandes paced the offense with 12 assists and added seven digs.
The Panthers look to bounce back as they take on Baruch College on September 17 home inside the Clark Center at 6pm.
