Box Score Old Westbury, N.Y - The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team opened up their season with a draw against Lehman College today.
Old Westbury struck first in the 27th minute when
Alvaro Arroyo found the back of the net off a header for his first collegiate goal, with an assist from
Dylan Quiroz, giving the Panthers a 1-0 advantage. Lehman would answer back in just under three minutesÂ
Ashraf Abubakar scored in the 30th minute off a pass from Cameron Dennis to even the match at 1-1.
The Lightning then took their first lead of the night in the 32nd minute when
Abdula George scored off an assist from Amidou Kone. Old Westbury responded quickly, however, with
Alexander Joergensen finding the back of the net with his first collegiate goal in the 37th minute off an assist from
Johan Gran. entering half time tied, 2-2.
Neither side could break through in the second half despite several scoring opportunities.Â
Both goalies in net played all 90 minutes while making big saves in the final minutes to keep the score all tied up.
The Panthers will host Baruch College on Friday September 4, at 3pm.
