Jamal White enters his first season as SUNY Old Westbury assistant men's basketball coach in 2016-17.
"I am excited for the opportunity to join coach Tomlin's staff as I look forward to assisting in the program's continued success," said White.
The 2008 graduate of Roosevelt High School averaged 26.0 points, 10.0 assists, 8.0 steals and 4.0 blocks as a senior to earn a selection to the All-Long Island team. He is the Roughriders' all-time leading scorer with over 2,000 points.
"White has a great passion for the game and is a valuable addition to our staff," Tomlin said.
White started his collegiate career at LIU Brooklyn as a freshman in 2008-09. He then transferred to St. John's University as a walk-on for the 2010-11 season before earning a scholarship in 2011-12. White was a two-time selection to the Big East All-Academic squad after appearing in 12 games for the Red Storm during his three seasons in Jamaica, New York. He received his bachelor's degree in 2013 from St. John's in public relations and is currently enrolled at Molloy College, where he is working on his MBA in healthcare administration.
A native of Roosevelt, New York, White has worked as a sales representative for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals since 2016.
White is also an active member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
