SUNY College at Old Westbury director of athletics Lenore Walsh named Matthew D’Angelo head men’s golf coach in 2012.
In just his first season at Old Westbury, D'Angelo hosted the inaugural Old Westbury Invitational at Southward Ho Country Club in Bay Shore, New York, where the Panthers finished in third place.
D’Angelo attended Dowling College as a freshman and was a member of the golf team in 2004 and 2005. He then transferred to West Virginia University in 2006, where served as the president of the golf club for two years. D’Angelo was also a member of the West Virginia University Rugby Club in 2006.
While at West Virginia, D’Angelo earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in Business Administration in 2009 and later completed his Master of Science degree in sports management in May 2010. D’Angelo also graduated suma cum laude as an undergraduate and graduate student.
D’Angelo is no stranger to working in collegiate athletics, gaining experience with the Department of Athletics during his time at West Virginia University, specifically in the areas of recreation, and event/facility management. D’Angelo served as a physical education teacher at West Virginia University during his graduate assistantship.
Additional experiences include interning with the Pittsburgh Steelers (Operations, 2009) and United States Olympic Committee in Lake Placid, New York (Operations, 2009) and in Colorado Springs, Colorado (Program Management, 2011).
A native of West Islip, New York, D’Angelo graduated from West Islip High School.
