SUNY College at Old Westbury men’s soccer head coach Jamie San Fillipo has announced the addition of Yahaya Musa to his coaching staff for the 2011 season. Musa, a former four-year letter winner at Stony Brook University, will serve as an assistant coach with the Panthers.
A native of Elmont, New York, Musa made 77 career starts (program record) and served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons with the Seawolves. As a junior and senior, he was selected to the All-American East First-Team, and earned Second-Team laurels when Stony Brook captured the Conference Championship in his sophomore season. Musa was named to the All-Rookie Team as a freshman. Musa finished his career with five points on one goal and three assists as a defender.
Following his collegiate career, he went onto play in the Puerto Rican professional league for Academia Quintana, Bayamon F.C. and Seviila F.C. He also played for the Kalamazoo Outrage, Long Island Rough Riders and the Fort Wayne Fever in the Player Development League and Fenerbahce USA of the New York Champions League. He also played three years of ENYYSA Olympic Development Program.
Musa graduated from Stony Brook in 2009 with a degree in Health Science. He attended Elmont Memorial High School, where he was a two-time All-Nassau County standout and was named Conference Player of the Year as a senior.
Musa was born in Camberra, Australia to parents Aisha and Adamu Musa and is a brother to Hadiza, Hajara and Jamila. He is married to Laura Musa and currently reside in Westbury, New York.
