Caitlin Thomas returns to campus in 2017 for her first season as SUNY Old Westbury assistant women’s soccer coach.

Thomas served as Old Westbury’s starting goalie from 2011-14, where she started 68 of the Panthers’ 79 games during that span.

“I am and will always be a Panther,” said Thomas.  “I believe in Old Westbury, and want the best for the program.

Thomas concluded her career as Old Westbury’s all-time leader in wins (34), shutouts (16) and saves (309).  With over 5,671 career minutes played in goal for Old Westbury, Thomas compiled a 2.03 goals-against average.

“Thomas will support our goalies and develop their technique and tactics,” said Bohringer.  “I look forward to having her implement visualization into daily practices as she mentors our squad.”

Before graduating from SUNY Old Westbury Cum Laude in 2015 with her bachelor's degree in psychology, she spent three years as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  The 2014-15 Old Westbury Co-Female Student-Athlete award winner was an influential member of SAAC, serving as Vice President in 2013-14 before holding the position as President in 2014-15.  Thomas was also a three-year member of the women's lacrosse team (2013-15), where she produced 64 ground balls and caused 58 turnovers in 48 games.  She also appeared in two matches in 2014 as a member of the women's volleyball team.

The 2011 graduate of Patchogue-Medford High School earned her master’s in sport and exercise psychology from Springfield College in 2017.
