PANTHERS EDGED BY HAWKS, 53-43

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury Men's Basketball team fell to a hot-shooting SUNY New
Paltz team on Tuesday evening 53-43 at the Clark Athletic
Center. The Panthers dropped to 1-2 on the season while the
Hawks of New Paltz recorded a hard fought win on the road to
improve to 1-2.
The Panthers trailed 44-30 at the 5:23 to go in the game and
closed the gap to seven points, but timely shooting by New Paltz
prevented Old Westbury of their second win of the season. New
Paltz shot 7-of-12 from three point territory while Old Westbury
converted 3-of-19. The Panthers were out rebounded 37-31,
despite forcing 30 turnovers.
Old Westbury was led on offense by Garthlette James, who
finished with a team high 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting from the
floor. James added nine rebounds and five steals while
Anthony Stowe pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Divine
Jackson finished with nine points, six rebounds and two steals and
Ian Johnson nabbed three steals.
New Paltz was led by the hot-shooting hand of Matt Hauser.
Houser knocked down 5-of-6 shots from beyond the arc as he finished
with a game-high 22 points while teammate Lee Bertram added 17
points. Bertram and Kyle Nelson grabbed nine rebounds
apiece.
Old Westbury returns to action on Tuesday, November
27th on the road at York College for a non-conference
showdown. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 pm. For more
