PANTHERS UNABLE TO COMPLETE COMEBACK AGAINST MOUNT SAINT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury Women's Basketball team was unable to keep pace with Mount
Saint Vincent on Tuesday night at the Clark Athletic Center, losing
a conference game 71-54. Old Westbury drops to 1-2 overall
and remains winless in league play at 0-2. Mount Saint
Vincent improves to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference action.
Old Westbury jumped out to an early 8-4 lead with 14:48
remaining in the half. The teams battled back and forth until
Mount Saint Vincent put together a 29-15 run to close out the
opening period. The Panthers got off to a sluggish start in
the second half and were unable to rebound from it as they trailed
Mount Saint Vincent for remainder of the game. Old Westbury
connected on 8 of 30 from the field while Mount Saint Vincent shot
16 of 35 in the second half.
Pamela Robinson had another strong outing, putting in 23 points
on 7 of 13 shooting from the field to go along with 6 boards.
Krystal Garner added 10 points to go with 6 rebounds (5 offensive)
while Shameeka Bryan finished with 9 rebounds (6 offensive).
Courtney Heesemann scored a game-high 24 points to lead Mount
Saint Vincent to victory. Heesemann connected on 9 of 11
shots from the floor in addition to 8 rebounds. Kaitline
Burud added 9 points and 8 boards while Edeana Martinez scored 12
points and pulled down 7 boards off the bench.
The two teams combined for 51 turnovers while Mount Saint
Vincent handed out 12 assists. The Panthers edged the
Dolphins in the rebound column, 40-39 including 19 offensive
rebounds.
Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday, December
4th to play host to Farmingdale State. Tip-off is
