SEPTEMBER 22, 2007

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Men's Soccer team defeated Skyline Conference newcomer, Polytechnic University, 6-1, on a rainy Saturday at Panther Park.  Old Westbury improves to 3-3 overall, 1-0 conference, and Polytechnic slides to1-5 overall, 0-1 conference.

John Senatore and Justin Leakey scored 2 goals each as the Panthers jumped out to an early 5-0 lead heading into the final period.  Leakey scored the first goal in the 8th minute off a pass by Erik Velasquez to put the Panthers up 1-0.  Senatore scored his first goal of the day in the 24th minute from a direct pass by Alexander Renwart to give the Panthers an early 2-0 advantage.  Less than a minute later, Senatore stuck again, this time Kimron Annikie found him at the 25th minute to give Old Westbury a 3-0 lead.  Old Westbury added another goal in the 33rd minute when Leakey fired a shot from a pass by Orlando McFarlane and Kimron Annikie, giving Old Westbury a 4-0 cushion.  Kimron Annikie was rewarded for his unselfish play, connecting on a kick that was out of reach for Polytechnic to contest in the 34th minute to put the Panthers on top 5-0 at the end of the period.  Orlando McFarlane scored Old Westbury's final goal of the day when Kimron Annikie found him to lift the Panthers to a 6-0 lead.  Polytechnic finally got on the scoreboard in the 84th minute when Nitin Mitra scored off a pass from Adrian Gordon that went pass goalie Divine Jackson.  Polytechnic was unable to add any goals from that point on, as Old Westbury successfully killed off the remaining 5:56 of the match to earn the hard-fought victory.

Goal Keeper Brandon Denoyer (1-1) was credited with the win as he posted a shut-out during his 45 minutes of action.  DeNoyer made 2 saves and was relieved by Divine Jackson for the second half.  Jackson finished with 7 saves in 45 minutes in between the cross-bars.  John Senatore and Justin Leakey led the Panthers with 4 shots on goal, converting to 2 goals each.  Kimron Annikie finished with 3 assists and 1 goal and Orlando McFarlane added 1 goal and 1 assist.  Old Westbury dominated Polytechnic, out shooting them, 32-17.

Old Westbury returns to action on Monday, September 24th as they welcome New York City Tech to Panther Park for a non-conference battle.  Action is set to get underway at 4:00 pm.  For more information about the Old Westbury Panthers, or to follow your favorite Panther sports and events, log onto http://www.oldwestburypanthers.com/.
