PANTHERS EDGED BY MARINERS, 1-0, ON THE ROAD
SEPTEMBER 5, 2007
KINGS POINT,
N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury
Men's Soccer team lost 1-0, on the road to the U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy. The U.S. Merchant Marine improves to 1-2 overall,
while the Panthers start off a 0-1.
Goal Keeper Brian Hicks recorded eight saves and held a shut out
until the 22 minute mark when Clint Foster broke open a scoreless
game. Foster connected on a kick that was out of reach for
Hicks, giving the Mariners a 1-0 advantage. That would be all
the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy would need as Preston Stokes
recorded a two save shut out over the Panthers.
Even though Old Westbury was held scoreless, John Senatore led
the attack for the Panthers with three shots. Jorge Roman
attempted two shots and Brandon DeNoyer recorded one shot.
Overall, Old Westbury was out shot by the Mariners, 15-9.
Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday, September
8th at 1:00 pm against York College at the Mount Saint
Mary College Invitational. On Sunday, September
9th, Old Westbury will take on Medgar Evers on day two
of the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational scheduled for a 1:00
pm start. For more information about the Old Westbury
