Boxscore

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team improved to 3-5 on the season with a 5-1 victory over non-conference opponent, CCNY (3-8) on Thursday night at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Five different Panthers scored on the evening, as Old Westbury snapped a three game losing streak.

Old Westbury wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as sophomore Justin Leakey (Baldwin, N.Y.) finished a pass from classmate Kimron Annikie (Central Islip, N.Y.) in the 16th minute to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The assist was Annikie's first of the season after leading the team with 11 (.65 assist p/ game average-14th in nation) in 2007.

Old Westbury doubled its lead in the 17th minute when senior John Senatore (Ridge, N.Y.) sent a feed from Leakey into the right post for the score.  Sophomore Darian Bryan held CCNY scoreless until the 60:48 mark when Kerille Bruno put home the lone score for the visiting Beavers with assists going to Dennis Githui and Thomas Fayet.  Old Westbury responded at the 67:20 mark when Senatore found freshman Timothy Munzing (Oceanside, N.Y.) in the box as he beat his defender and finished a low shot to the far post for his first score of his collegiate career.  Just over one minute later junior Fabian Santibanez (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) fired a laser past CCNY keeper Taiwo Alabi from 30 yards out for the score on a pass from Senatore.  Old Westbury extended its lead in the 78th minute when junior Edwin Mejia (Uniondale, N.Y.) tapped in a goal off a pass from classmate Orlando McFarlane (West Hempstead, N.Y.) for the fifth and final goal of the game.

Overall the Panthers were outshot, 21-20 by the Beavers.  Both team finished tied with 13 shots on goal and five corner kicks.  Bryan made 12 saves for Old Westbury to post his third victory of the season as Taiwo Alabi stopped eight shots and allowed five goals for CCNY.

The Panthers' five goals tied a season high in non-conference play when Old Westbury defeated Culianry Institute 5-1 on September 13th at the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational.

The Green and Ivory will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 11th when they travel to conference foe, Mount Saint Mary College.  Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.  Please visit www.oldwestburypanthers.com for more information on men's soccer or any of the other Panther athletic teams.
