THROGS NECK, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team outplayed Skyline Conference opponent, SUNY Maritime on Thursday evening with a 3-1 victory on the road, improving to 5-7 on the season and 3-3 in league play.  SUNY Maritime moves to 6-8-2 overall and 1-4-1 in conference action.

Sophomore Justin Leakey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) put Old Westbury on the board with an unassisted strike in the 23rd minute that went past the outstretched arms of SUNY Maritime goalkeeper Harris Papson for the score.  Freshman Timothy Munzing (Oceanside, N.Y.) doubled the lead with what proved to be the game-winner in the 30th minute when he gained control of a pass by classmate Steven Paez (Glen Cove, N.Y.) to put another one past Papson for his second goal of the year.  Mayer Nelson responded for SUNY Maritime with a goal after he received a pass from John Blunden, which cut the deficit to one goal, down 2-1 at the 62:38 mark.  Just under five minutes later, Leakey tacked on his second goal of the night by chipping the ball over the goalkeeper's head for his team-high seventh goal of the year at the 67.35 mark.

Old Westbury defended well for the rest of the match to come away with the 3-1 victory. The Panthers were outshot 20-17, while SUNY Maritime finished with a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.  Sophomore Darian Bryan (Elmont, N.Y.) tallied eight saves to notch his fifth victory of the season while Harris Papson made eight stops for the Privateers.

The Green and Ivory will return to action on Saturday, October 25th to welcome conference rival, Farmingdale State to Panther Park.  Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.  Please visit www.oldwestburypanthers.com for more information on men's soccer or any of the other Panther athletic teams.
