WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO SAGE, 2-0

WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO SAGE, 2-0

OCTOBER 4, 2008

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team couldn't overcome a strong showing from Skyline Conference foe, The Sage Colleges Saturday afternoon in Loundonville, New York, falling by a score of 2-0.  Old Westbury falls to 3-6 on the season and 3-5 in league play while The Sage Colleges improve to 4-4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference action.

Rebecca Marszalek netted a goal in the first half that proved to be all the scoring the Gators would need to claim their second Skyline Conference victory.  Korin Hallenbeck slotted a pass to Ashley Allain who doubled the lead on a goal with 23 minutes left in the game to ensure the victory for the Gators.  The Panthers were unable to find momentum with their offense, recording only seven shots in the match.

Junior Sherrida Maxwell (Rosedale, N.Y.) did what she could to slow down a Gator offense that rattled off a total of 21 shots. The junior keeper stopped nine shots on the afternoon as the team allowed two goals in her collegiate debut.  Megan Welcome registered the shutout for the Gators as she tallied four saves.

The Green and Ivory return to the pitch on Tuesday, October 7th at Skyline Conference opponent, Mount Saint Vincent College.  Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. Please visit www.oldwestburypanthers.com for more information on women's soccer or any of the other Panther athletic teams.
