OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury Baseball team lost a 10-4 decision to Briarcliffe College
on Tuesday evening at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.
Old Westbury falls to 10-22 on the season.
Panthers at the plate: Thomas Butler (2-for-3)
was the lone Panther to register multiple hits. Butler
stroked a pair of singles while Kevin Reynolds (1-for-4) clubbed a
double in the second inning and later scored off a Ben Farmer
(1-for-4) single. John Tagliento (1-for-4) singled home
Emmanuel Mateo (1-for-3) in the second inning. Joe Mazzarese
(1-for-4, SB) and Ryan Blanco (1-for-5, SB) each singled and scored
while David Collado (1-for-2) singled home Mazzarese in the third
inning.
Panthers on the mound: Jorge Hiraldo (1-3)
suffered the loss after tossing five innings on the mound.
Hiraldo gave up six runs (3 earned) on seven hits while striking
out two and walking four before Frank Russo Jr. came in for relief
work. Russo Jr. threw two innings and was charged with one
earned run on one hit as he struck out one and walked one.
Thomas Butler closed out the final two innings and gave up three
earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
Game notes: Old Westbury was out0hit, 12-10,
including 3-1 in the extra base hit department. On the base
path, Old Westbury stole three bases and stranded seven Panthers
while Briarcliffe College stole three bases and left nine on
base. In the field, Old Westbury committed four errors and
turned one double-play as Briarcliffe College had three
errors. On the mound, Old Westbury struck out six and walked
five while Briarcliffe College had seven strikeouts and one
walk.
Old Westbury returns to the diamond on April 16th to
welcome back former Skyline Conference opponent, Centenary College.
First pitch of the double-header is slated for 3:30 p.m. For
