Box Score SENATORE BREAKS CAREER GOALS RECORD
SEPTEMBER 11, 2008
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury men's soccer program has a new record holder in their
history book. The record for tying the most goals scored by a
player in a Panthers uniform trailed by one goal of the record
heading into the 2008 season and was broken on Wednesday night
against Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University at Tibbetts
Brook Park in Yonkers.
In order to break this record, the 2007 All-Skyline Conference
First-Team selection senior forward John Senatore (Ridge, N.Y.) had
to score two goals. Senatore put home a trio of goals on
Wednesday night to give him 31 for his career, breaking past
Chickwe Azinge, who set the record with 29 in 2003.
Going into the season, Senatore's 28 goals in three seasons with
the Panthers was just one short of the record that was held by
Chickwe Azinge. Wednesday night versus Yeshiva University,
Senatore scored the game-winning goal at the 13:33 mark; a game the
Panthers won 10-1, for the 29th goal of his Panther
career, tying the record. Then at the 31:58 mark, Senatore
broke history by netting his 30th career goal followed
by a third goal in the 68th minute for his
31st of his career. In addition to setting the
record for goals in a career, Senatore also holds bragging rights
for career points at Old Westbury with 80.
Senatore and the Panthers return to action on Saturday,
September 13th at the Mount Saint Mary College
Invitational in Newburgh, New York to face Culinary
Institute. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. Please visit
