Boxscore

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team were served their first Skyline Conference loss of 2008 by Bard College on Saturday afternoon, 2-1 at Panther Park.  The loss moves Old Westbury to 2-5 on the season and 1-1 in league play while Bard College moves to 3-3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

The first half was all about defenses, as neither team could notch a goal, with Old Westbury totaling 17 shots while Bard College had two.  It wasn't until the second half when Bard College broke open a scoreless game.  Jacob Hartog led the charge for the Raptors, scoring two goals in the second half to give Bard College a 2-0 lead in the 61st minute.  Hartog's goals in the 59th and 61st minutes put the Panthers in a deep hole in the second half, and they were unable to climb out.  The Panthers would recover to play a solid rest of the match.  Sophomore George Villalta (Elmont, N.Y.) responded when he uncorked a lightning bolt off a pass by classmate Justin Leakey (Baldwin, N.Y.) at the 63:49 mark for the score to cut into a 2-1 deficit.

Old Westbury tallied 37 shots, led by junior Fabian Santibanez (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) who had nine, followed by Justin Leakey, who added seven.  Bard College had seven shots as Jacob Hartog paced the Raptors with four.  Old Westbury edged Bard College 16-5 in the shots on goal department and finished with a 9-1 advantage over the Raptors in corner kicks.  Sophomore keeper Darian Bryan (Elmont, N.Y.) made three stops while allowing two goals as Deven Connelly led Bard College with 15 saves.

The Green and Ivory will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 11th when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College for a Skyline Conference showdown.  Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.  Please visit www.oldwestburypanthers.com for more information on men's soccer or any of the other Panther athletic teams.
