ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The SUNY College at
Old Westbury men's soccer team lost in overtime to Bard College,
2-1, in a Skyline Conference match on Saturday afternoon in
Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. The Panthers fell to 8-8-1
(4-3 Skyline) record on the season, while the Raptors improved to
6-7-2 (4-3 Skyline).
In the first half, Old Westbury's senior Edwin Mejia (Uniondale,
NY) started the scoring at the 3:53 mark off a pass from classmate
Conor McKeon (Rockville Centre, NY). Deep in the first half,
Bard's senior Erik Badger (Ellington, CT) scored to put Bard on the
board after settling a pass from freshman Ammar Al-Rubaiay (Chester
Springs, PA)at 42:40. In overtime, Bard's sophomore Jacob
Hartog (San Francisco, CA) scored the game-winning goal in the
96th minute with an assist from Erik Badger.
Bard outshot the Panthers, 22-16, with Panther sophomore
goalkeeper William Montenegro (Brentwood, NY) finishing the match
with seven saves in a losing effort. The Raptors sophomore
goalkeeper Devon Connelly (High Falls, NY) made seven stops in
leading his team to victory.
