PANTHERS TO MEET BARD IN FIRST ROUND OF 2009 SKYLINE
CONFERENCE MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The third-seeded
SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team (10-8-1 Overall, 5-3
Skyline) will take on No. 6 seed Bard (7-8-2 Overall , 4-4-0
Skyline ) in an opening round match-up of the 2009 Skyline
Conference Championship on Wednesday, November 4 at 2 p.m. in Old
Westbury.
Should Old Westbury get past Bard in the first round, it would
advance them to face No. 2 seed Farmingdale State in a semifinal
contest scheduled on Friday, November 6th in
Farmingdale. The winner of the No.4 seed Maritime and
fifth-seeded NYU-Poly will face top-seeded St. Joseph's-L.I. in
Patchogue.
On the season, Old Westbury is 10-8-1 and finished the regular
season at 5-3 in Skyline Conference play. Offensively, the
Panthers will be led into the tournament by the senior Fabian Santibanez (Oyster Bay, NY), who has led the team with 10 goals, 11
assists and 31 points. His .65 assists per game average ranks
15th in the nation while his 1.82 points per game is
45th.
Bard has defeated the Panthers in two previous regular season
meetings, including a 2-1 victory on October 24th in
Bard, while Old Westbury knocked the Raptors out of the conference
tournament with a 2-1 road victory in 2008.
