www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer netted a first half goal by freshman
Kelsey Durkot and was all the Panthers would need Sunday. The Panthers defeated the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raider 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Panther Park.
With the win, OW (8-5) set a program record with straight wins and tied a record with their eighth victory of the season. Rutgers-Newark slipped to 4-7-3 on the season with the loss.
The only goal of the match came when
Kelsey Durkot blasted her third goal of the season past a leaping Kat Renteria at 18:25.
Chynna Pitlock was solid in goal for OW, making two stops to earn her fifth shutout of the season. Pitlock's fifth shutout tied a program record that was set by
Jennifer Kupfer in 2009. Scarlet Raider keeper Kat Renteria suffered the loss after allowing one goal and making five saves.
The Panthers outshot the Scarlet Raiders 14-10 including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. Rutgers-Newark held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-1.
