OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team defeated the Bard Raptors 5-1 Saturday afternoon at Panther Park to advance to the Semifinals of the 2010 Skyline Conference Championship Tournament. The Panthers move on to face rival Farmingdale State in the Semifinals on Wednesday in Farmingdale, New York.

Old Westbury's Steven Greene put the Panthers on top 1-0 just 2:47 into the game, finishing off a pass from classmate Hansel Riddock for his second goal of the season.

The Panthers made it 2-0 moments late at 6:28, as Hansel Riddock picked up his second game-winner of the season, beating Bard goalie Deven Connelly. Anthony Ippolito got in the scoring action, assisting on the goal. Ippolito then made it 3-0 Old Westbury when he blasted one home on a pass from Christopher Martelli at 32:28. Martelli then scored his first career goal at 38:46 to cap the first half scoring for OW on an assist by Christopher Barbosa.

Steven Burgos closed out Old Westbury's scoring in the 62nd minute by using his head to finishing off a cross from German Parodis to put OW ahead, 5-0. Jacob Hartog put Bard on the board at 80:24 on an unassisted goal to avoid the shutout.

OW outshot Bard, 31-6 and held the advantage in corner kick, 7-2. Darian Bryan was in net for the opening 69:14 to earn the victory before Pablo Diaz allowed one goal in 20:46 of work for Old Westbury. Deven Connelly made 11 saves for Bard.

SKYLINE CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch on Wednesday (Nov. 3), taking on the Farmingdale State Rams in a rematch of the 2009 Skyline Conference Semifinals in Farmingdale, New York. Game-time has not been established and will be posted on www.oldwestburypanthers.com when it is announced.
