FARMINGDALE, NY
(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The third-seeded SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team advanced to the title game of the 2010 Skyline Conference Championship with a 3-1 win over second-seed Farmingdale State Wednesday at Farmingdale State's Rams Field. OW extended their program best record to 14 wins on the season and are now 14-8 overall while Farmingdale State slipped to 9-10-1.

The Panthers advance to the championship game of the conference tournament for the second consecutive season and third time in four seasons. Old Westbury moves into the Skyline Conference Championship Game on Saturday (Nov. 5) and will face the top-seeded Maritime Privateers in Throggs Neck, New York at 1 p.m. The winner of that game gains the Skyline's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship Tournament. The seedings, pairings and host sites for the NCAA tourney will be announced on Monday (Nov. 8) at 2 p.m.

Scott Madocks put Old Westbury on the board first at 5:09, registering his first goal of the season to give the Panthers an early advantage. Madocks' score was unassisted.

Anthony Ippolito netted his seventh goal of the season and his second game-winning goal of the year 52 minutes, 49 seconds into the match. Victor Farfan crossed the ball into Ippolito, who then one past Farmingdale State keeper Ricky Meschkow to double OW's advantage. Victor Farfan extended OW's lead to 3-0 in the 78th minute when Diego Mercado flicked to Farfan who used his head to put the Panthers up by three.

The OW defense was solid, holding a shutout until the 83rd minute of play when Farmingdale State's Nick Herrera avoided the blank sheet for the Rams as he slipped one past Darian Bryan to make it a 3-1 game.

Senior goalkeeper Darian Bryan registered two saves to earn the win while Ricky Meschkow took the loss after making four saves. Old Westbury outshot Farmingdale State 11-7 while the Rams held the advantage in corner kicks, 4-2
