www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball made an appearance in the 2010 ECAC Metro/Upstate Championship Tournament as the sixth-seed and traveled to face third-seeded FDU-Florham Devils Wednesday evening in Madison, New Jersey. FDU-Florham defeated the Panthers in three sets to advance to the semifinal round.
The Panthers were making their first appearance in the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championship Tournament after recording a program record 24 wins. But they couldn't carry over their stellar play from the previous matches and hit just .025 in the match.
Old Westbury finishes the season at 24-12, their second 20-win season in program history. FDU-Florham (31-8) advances to play the winner of No. 2 Ramapo / No. 7 Lehman Saturday in the semifinals round at 1 p.m. on the campus of Elmira College.
Kristina Giordano led the Panthers with 11 assists and three service aces to go along with six digs and four kills.
Tynisha George paced OW with five kills and 13 digs while
Tonya Miller added 4.5 blocks (4 Solo, 1 Assisted). Senior
Tanaya Vinson played her final match as a Panther, totaling four kills and two service aces.
FDU-Florham hit .247 and was led by Lauren Brazier's match-high nine kills, while Kerry Kuperman collected 22 assists and eight digs.
