(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team used a hot start to earn an 88-77 victory over the visiting Yeshiva Maccabees in their Skyline Conference opener Tuesday evening at the Clark Athletic Center. OW improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in conference while YU drops to 1-5 and 1-2 within the Skyline Conference.

Old Westbury took a commanding first half lead by overwhelming Yeshiva with their hot shooting. OW connected on 11-of-18 from the field in the opening half to shoot 60.7 percent.

Yeshiva played a more competitive second half, outscoring the Panthers 51-48 over the final 20 minutes, but wasn't enough to overcome a 40-26 deficit at the half.

Old Westbury edged YU 36-26 in rebounding, while Yeshiva held a 9-7 advantage off the offensive glass. Old Westbury coughed up 19 turnovers that resulted in 17 points for Yeshiva.

OW was led in scoring by Craig Wilson and Jamal Little, who both scored 19 points. Wilson connected on 4-of-4 from three-point land to go with five rebounds while Little added three triples and shot 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. Lester Prosper followed with 15 points and 16 rebounds to notch his 26th career double-double to go with five blocked shots. Prosper scored his 1,000 career point at the 16:11 mark in the second half on a lay-in off an offensive rebound. Rudy Lys provided the offensive spark off the bench for the Panthers, pouring  in a career-high 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor, including 2-of-2 from long distance in 14 minutes of court time.

Dovie Hoffman was one of three Maccabees to score in double-digits as he tallied a game-high 24 points. Chen Biron followed with 16 and Omer Haim contributed 11 points, seven assists and three steals.

MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court on Thursday (Dec. 2), taking on the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins in Skyline Conference action at the Clark Athletic Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Old Westbury, New York
