www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team defeated the Yeshiva Maccabees, 82-48 in the Skyline Conference opener at Arc Arena in New York, New York on Tuesday evening. The Panthers improve to 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the Skyline Conference while YU drops to 0-5 on the season and 0-1 in Skyline Conference play.
OW controlled the game from the opening tip and took a 48-18 half-time advantage to the locker room. Old Westbury outscored Yeshiva 34-30 in the second half en route to a 82-48 conference opening victory.
On the night, Old Westbury had four players score in double figures. Freshman
Deslyn Applewhaite racked up 18 points and classmate
Kim Weathers dropped in 13.
Denise Zajonc went for 13 points off the bench and
Abigail Williams added 10.
Shir Fuchs led all Maccabees on the night with 19 points followed by Lauen Kempin's 11. Haley David chipped in with nine points off the bench.
