OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team swept its doubleheader with the Lehman College Lightning on Thursday evening, posting a 10-2 and 10-0 run-rule victory to improve to 4-4 on the season. Lehman fell to 2-5 overall.
Deborah Ciccarelli earned the victory second victory of the season in game one, tossing a seven strikeout complete game (5.0 inning) three-hitter, allowing two runs and three walks. She twirled four scoreless innings before giving up an RBI double to Bethany Rodriguez to put Lehman on the board. Three batters later, Rodriguez came around to score on a wild pitch.
Nicole Petrucci anchored the Old Westbury offense in game one with a 3-for-4 effort that included two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Jessica Spero drove in four runs and scored two while
Lauren Isaac and
Alyssa Clancy scored two runs each.
Serina Booth drove in two runs.
Freshman hurler
Alyssa Clancy notched the victory for OW in game two, posting her first career complete game shutout. She worked five innings in the circle, allowing just four hits while fanning three and walking two.
Eight different Old Westbury batters scored in game two, but
Samantha Siegler did the most damage with a three-run homer over the left field fence in the second inning to score
Nicole Petrucci and
Serina Booth. Old Westbury tacked on eight runs in the second inning on four hits and five errors.
Jessica Spero registered three RBI and
Alyssa Clancy helped her own cause with two runs scored including an RBI double that scored
Sherrida Maxwell.
The Panthers will return to the field on Saturday, March 27 for a Skyline Conference battle at Mount Saint Vincent. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. in Riverdale, New York.
