OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury freshman Alyssa Clancy no-hit Purchase Saturday afternoon, striking out eight in the process as OW took the second game of the doubleheader, 1-0. In game one, Deborah Ciccarelli allowed four hits and shutout the visiting Panthers, 10-0, in a five-inning run rule victory. The victories move OW to 9-11 overall and 3-3 against the Skyline Conference while Purchase stepped down to 7-12 and 1-5.

Old Westbury scored 10 runs on seven hits and three errors in five innings to take game one.  OW posted three in the first and seven tallies in the fourth.

Lauren Isaac went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI to pace the offense in game one. She clubbed a two-run double in the fourth inning to close out the scoring. Nicole Petrucci led off with a double and scored two batters later in the opening frame and went 1-for-3 with two scores. Alyssa Clancy hit 1-for-2 with two RBI and one score while Deborah Ciccarelli singled to right field in the fourth to drive in two in a 1-for-3 game at the plate. Also contributing was Samantha Siegler, who drove in one run and scored two.

Karina Diaz banged out two singles in two at-bats to lead Purchase at the plate. Jennie Angelone smacked a double to register the lone extra base hit for the visiting Panthers.

Deborah Ciccarelli improved to 6-7 with her second shutout of the season. She worked five innings and surrendered just four hits and two free passes and whiffed three. Lindsey Froman took the loss for Purchase, giving up eight earned runs on seven hits and two walks to go with two strikeouts.

Clancy, who earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week twice so far, improved to 4-3 as she struck out eight and did not allow a single walk, retiring 23 of 24 batters in game two.

Purchase finally reached base in the seventh inning when the freshman southpaw hit Meghan Lalonde with the pitch. Two batters later, Lalonde advanced to second on a groundout and would stay put as Clancy caught Jessie Domes looking on a third strike to complete the no-no. Clancy's two-out single up the middle in the third inning produced the lone run of the game, scoring Nicole Mannino from third.

For Purchase, Jennie Angelone, Karina Diaz and Jessie Domes all struck out twice. Lindsay Froman struck out three batters was pinned with her second loss of the day. Froman gave up one run on five hits and four walks.

The Panthers will return to the field on Sunday, April 11 for a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Mount Saint Mary. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is slated for 12 p.m. at Kaplan Field in Newburgh, New York.
