www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team received 16 strikeouts and a fourth consecutive shutout by
Alyssa Clancy in game two as the Panthers split a doubleheader with non-conference foe, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn took game one 6-0 and Old Westbury won 4-0 in game two. The split moved Old Westbury to 11-13 on the season while the Bears now stand at 14-8.
Game one remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, when St. Joseph's-Brooklyn scored all six of their runs on six hits off OW starter
Deborah Ciccarelli. Alyson Chiarmonte singled to center field to score Millicia Malvasio for the eventual game winner. Caitlyn Kakavas, Andrea Sideli, Lauren Norris and Mabel Vargas hit back-to-back-to-back-to-back RBI singles followed by a sacrifice fly by Malvasio to cap the scoring.
Alyssa Clancy and Samantha Sielger both singled for Old Westbury's lone hits in game one. Malvasio and Chiarmonte had two hits and scored a run to lead the Bears.
Ciccarelli (5-10) worked six innings, registered six strikeouts and dealt three free passes while surrendering six runs on eight hits. Chiarmonte picked up her fourth shutout of the season and her seventh win. She allowed just two hits by Old Westbury and fanned 12.
Old Westbury answered right back in the opening frame of game two when #Sherrida Maxwell got things started with a double to right field.
Alyssa Clancy followed with a single through the right side to score Maxwell. Two batters later,
Lauren Isaac tripled in Clancy to put Old Westbury on top, 2-0. Old Westbury tacked on their third run of the game in the second inning off a grounder to second by
Sherrida Maxwell to score #NicoleMannino#.
Alyssa Clancy also helped her own cause by going 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored.

Alyssa Clancy fired her fourth shutout in days and won her fourth consecutive decision while striking out a career-high 16 batters. She allowed two doubles and three singles to notch her fifth career shutout and improve to 6-3 on the year. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn starter Lisa Scheer, who dropped to 5-5, allowed four runs, three earned on nine hits in seven innings of work.
The Panthers will remain on the road for a non-conference doubleheader with the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders on Wednesday, April 14 at Alumni Field. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. in Newark, New Jersey.
