OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – the SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team split today's non-conference doubleheader with the Brooklyn College Bulldogs at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. After exploding for nine runs on 11 hits in a 9-1 game one victory, Old Westbury's offense was held to four hits in a 6-0 game two loss. The split moves Old Westbury to 6-7 on the season while Brooklyn stands at 7-4
In game one, Old Westbury used an early offensive surge to down the Bulldogs, 9-1. Brooklyn scored first in the opening frame as Tess Studholme doubled in Lisa Morro for their lone run of the game.
Old Westbury responded with a seven run second inning.
Samantha Siegler led off the second inning with her second big fly of the season to knot the game at 1-1. Three batters later,
Sherrida Maxwell hit a single that send
Lauren Isaac in for the eventual game winner.
Jessica Spero then stepped to the plate and clubbed a three-run homer, her second of the season, to put Old Westbury up 5-1.
Samantha Siegler ripped a doubled to left center to drive in
Nicole Petrucci and
Alyssa Clancy for the 7-1 lead at the end of two.

Jarelis Torres from second. The very next batter,
Lauren Isaac concluded the game with a single down the left field line to bring around
Kristina Giordano for the score.
Deborah Ciccarelli improved to 4-5 on the season with a 6.0 inning complete game. Ciccarelli surrendered just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six. Nicole Barrasso took the loss for Brooklyn. Barrasso dropeed to 6-4 on the season after giving up nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits and four walks.
Samantha Siegler paced the Old Westbury offensive, going 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBI and one run scored including a homerun and two doubles.
Nicole Petrucci doubled and scored one run and went 2-for-4. Norah Marley singled and Tess Studholme doubled for Brooklyn's two hits.
Brooklyn starter Nicole Barrasso took the bats out of Old Westbury's hands as Old Westbury was unable to produce offensively in game two. Brooklyn went for two runs in the first, three more in the third inning and tacked on one more in the sixth to earn a 6-0 victory.

Samantha Lombardi led the way for the Bulldogs offensively by going 3-for-3 and accumulating two RBI and one run scored. Tess Studholme and Lisa Morro each doubled and had a pair of hits. Studholme (2-for-3) scored two runs and drove in one while Morro scored one, drove in one and went 2-for-4.
Deborah Ciccarelli pitched all seven innings allowing eight hits, six runs (five earned) and struck out eight batters in Old Westbury's loss. Nicole Barrasso (7-4) picked up her seventh win of the season after tossing 7.0 innings, allowing four hits and seven walks to earn the shutout. She also fanned four batters.
The Panthers will return to the field on Tuesday, April 6 for a non-conference affair with the Hunter College Hawks. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex in Old Westbury, New York.
