PANTHER SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM SAGE

TROY, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team completed a Skyline Conference double header sweep of the Sage Gators, 7-2 and 10-1, Saturday afternoon at Robison Field in Troy, New York. With the two wins, Old Westbury improved to 18-116 overall and 8-6 in Skyline Conference play while Sage dropped o 8-26 overall and 3-11 in league contests. 
The Panthers scored their seven runs on 14 hits and two Sage miscues, while the Gators managed four hits and reached on two Old Westbury errors. 

In game one, freshman Alyssa Clancy led Old Westbury to victory by pitching her 14th complete game of the season. She struck out eight batters and surrendered two runs on four hits and a walk. Gabriella Skillen was pinned with the loss as she was charged with seven runs (six earned) on 14 hits and two walks. 

Nicole Petrucci banged out four hits in five at-bats which included a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Alyssa Clancy aided her own cause with two doubles and finished 3-for-4 with two RBI. Meghan Welcome singled home the first run for Sage in the fourth inning and Mallory Ingalls crushed a homer in the seventh to pace the offense. 

In game two, Old Westbury posted three players with multiple hits as the Panthers managed 10 runs on 10 hits and one Gator error. The Gators posted two hits and saw one Old Westbury miscue.
Junior pitcher Deborah Ciccarelli earned the win in game two after allowing a run on two hits and a walk. She issued five strikeouts in five innings of work in a run rule victory to improve to 6-13 on the season. Nichole French took the loss after giving up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in four innings. Kristen Knights relieved French in the fifth and worked one inning, allowing three runs on two 
hits and two walks to finish out the game. 

Nicole Petrucci led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance in game two. Petrucci added three runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base. Sherrida Maxwell and Alyssa Clancy each tallied two hits, two RBI and a run scored in the contest. OW had three extra base hits with a double by Clancy and Samantha Siegler and a triple by Maxwell. Nichole French highlighted the Gator offense with a leadoff big fly in the third inning.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, April 27th for a non-conference affair with the New Rochelle Blue Angels in Old Westbury, New York. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is slated for 4:30 p.m. at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.
