BROOKLYN, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com ) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team fell, 2-0, in first Skyline Conference loss to the NYU-Poly Fighting Blue Jays (7-2-1, 1-1 Skyline) Wednesday evening at Aviator Sports Complex. The Fighting Blue Jas scored a pair of second half goals to drop the Panthers to 7-4 on the season and 3-1 in Skyline Conference play.
Both teams battle in the opening half, Old Westbury went into the break holding NYU-Poly scoreless.
“We had various chances in the first half but came short of a goal,” said Old Westbury Head Coach
Jason Warshaw.
OW held a 7-5 edge in shots through the first 45 minutes, while NYU-Poly had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
“Second half the team attacked but the luck was not on our side,” said Warshaw.
NYU-Poly controlled the pace in the second half with 12 shots including two on goal. Despite a lack of shots, the Green and Ivory did attempt six corner kicks in the half.
The first score of the game came in the 63rd minute when Allen Rohr tapped in a pass from Marcelo Escudero. Marcelo Escudero knocked in NYU-Poly's second goal at the 79 minute mark off a feed from Tomi Fischer. Old Westbury was unable to mount a comeback in the final minutes as the Panthers eventually fell, 2-0.

Darian Bryan had three saves in the net for Old Westbury along with the back four doing a solid job keeping the Fighting Blue Jays at bay. NYU-Poly's Michael Hall had five saves for the game
