OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team (10-4, 1-1 Skyline Conference) swept St. Joseph's-L.I. (4-7, 3-1 Skyline Conference), in its second Skyline Conference match of the season on Thursday evening at the Clark Athletic Center.
Kristina Giordano combined 24 assists and 10 digs to register her fourth double-double of the season. Giordano added three aces and six kills with zero errors in 10 swings to lead OW's hitting efforts (.600).
Ashley Greene led the Panthers in kills (11) while
Kimberly Catania, Tynishia George and
Tanaya Vinson each chipped in with five apiece. Defensively, Tynishia George had eight digs followed by
Nancy Apollonio, who tallied seven.
Tonya Miller added four blocks to her team-leading 46 swats on the season.
The Panthers hit .382 for the match with 37 kills, eight errors in 76 total attack and held the Golden Eagles to a .070 hitting percentage. April Bennett paced St. Joseph's-L.I. with eight kills and Kasey Wood and Jaclyn Shields finished with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
WILLIAM PATERSON PIONEERS AND LEHMAN LIGHTNING UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 2) for a non-conference tri-match at home against the William Paterson Pioneers at 10 a.m. and will then take on the Lehman Lightning at 2 p.m. William Paterson and Lehman will square off at 12 p.m.
